Her ethereal and poignant words pierced my heart.
a testimony of purity.
A lifetime of goodness.
The sharp sting of my own failures would not allow me to read further.
Pain of heart
There are many who have walked a life of right choices and holy living.
I applaud and admire such testimonies,
a banner of beauty to behold.
How grateful I am that my children can see
right, done rightly.
But what of the broken prodigals?
The walking wounded, the unfaithful, the addicted, the weak.
The ones who traded in their purity desperately searching for love,
who drowned their pain with a bottle,
who ran from craziness and landed in insanity.
Droplets of grace is all you ask.
Your shame like a shadow so dark it takes your breath away.
Even if you believed Jesus stood with arms outstretched you are lost in hopelessness
- too late-
not enough grace could rescue you.
Tenderness, grace, mercy, hope, love-
Gifts only bestowed upon those who are on a higher plane.
Just out of reach.
Your parched tongue wishing just a droplet of grace could cool your thirst- you stand in the shadows,
head down.
With tears flowing you pray,
"Jesus, I cannot even touch but a sliver of the goodness of others I see, I have failed you too many times to count, I have nothing to offer you but my adoration. I am not worthy of your mercy. I am not worthy of your patience and goodness, but,
could you spare a just drop of your grace today for me?"
Droplets begin to fall from the sky,
you look up and the water begins to trickle down your face.
This rain is different
Not like the time you stepped out of your innocent world into the hurricane. (The wind pelted your skin with an angry torrent.)
This time it's life-giving
The first drops you taste are fresh and pure.
You didn’t realize how thirsty you were.
How needy
How parched

...like a flood His grace washes over you,
mercy unfailing,
His arms a fortress of strength encompassing you.
You fight against the torrent of water that pours over you-all you asked for was one drop of grace and
what you got was a tsunami of water.
Unmerited,
Overwhelming
Radical
Grace.
Its just like Jesus- His grace is not doled out in rations.
His mercy not stingy or miserly.
His tenderness not limited to the ones who have managed to get it right the first time.
Could it be?
Yes.
It could.
And even if you faltered and failed one hundreds times over,
if you are His beloved child- you still get grace.
Not just a droplet of it-
an unending waterfall of it.
Truth.
“Grace is love that seeks you out when you have nothing to give in return. Grace is love coming at you that has nothing to do with you. Grace is being loved when you are unlovable.” Paul Zahl
May I ask for a droplet of your grace beloved one?

I am so blown away by this post. We want big shows of grace -- the fabulous parade and the production with pomp.
But really, our soul just yearns for a drop - a single solitary drop of grace.
This is truth.
Beautiful post, Julie. I remember being in the thick of hopelessness, and longing for just one drop of grace--one sliver of hope. I still find myself there occasionally, but now I have the knowledge that the grace is there--just waiting to fall on me, refreshing and cool.
"How grateful I am that my children can see right, done rightly."
I was thinking of this yesterday. I am sure that I am messing up in some places, but I am even more sure that my children will grow up being confident in the love and grace of a good God. He's just, but He is good. And He loves us. That makes all the difference in the world. :)
Thank you for the beautiful thoughts this morning, beloved friend.
Even when the rain falls
Even when flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water

That was breathtakingly beautiful! I love what you said,"His tenderness is not limited to the ones who have managed to get it right the first time." Spoke right to my heart. Needed that reminder!

Beautiful! Just what I needed this morning.
How blessed it is to be standing in the waterfall, receiving the fullness of His mercy and love!
